The fridge is the hardest working appliance in your home. It runs 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week and draws a lot of electricity to cool and freeze your food. Most people don't realize just how much energy it takes to run a refrigerator. Today its not uncommon to have 2 or more appliances in your home. Of course you must have the beer fridge in the garage... and that old thing is certainly drawing electricity to cool the beer.

We recommend you purchase a fridge that is friendly to the environment. Look for the energy star rating which means its more efficient. Today's models all use hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) instead of CFC (chlorofluorocarbon) which can deplete the ozone layer. Energy efficiency was not sacrificed in this change.

There are three basic refrigerator designs. Freezer on top, freezer on the bottom and side-by-side fridges. To help your back, it makes the most sense to have your freezer on the bottom because you want the section that you're in the most on top, closer to your head, so you don't have to bend over as much.  The side-by-side refrigerator is very popular because it is the only model that gives you the ice and water dispensers in the door for quick and easy access.
